the past

Whether you're familiar with my take on the character or not, if you know anything about Manic, you know he used to be a thief.
So, the literal dirty rat you see in panel three is a gang leader. Of a gang Manic used to be involved in.

I was playing with the idea that he might be haunted by his past later on in life. Yes, I have a flair for the dramatic...
And for the "son of a birthday cake" thing...well, if he was involved with a gang, I'd imagine he'd also have a habit of swearing...and in my version of the character, Pursia eventually taught him to curb this habit somewhat. Plus, now that he's a daddy, do you really think he's going to cuss his former boss out in front of his little girl? (That was actually the idea that led to this little comic. And yes I do find using birthday cake as an insult to be amusing. xD) This is why the rat calls him a "softie"--it reminds him how Manic went all "goody-two-shoes".

And yes, I like to make my version of characters I like to be Christians when it comes to my fanart.

I think this moves kinda fast? Oh well. And I didn't feel like doing more than sketching and fast coloring...yet I am still submitting this to "featured".

This is just a one-time thing...I'm not going to elaborate on what's going on in this comic--such as why they were captured, what's going to happen, etc. Use your imaginations.
Feedback is very much appreciated, though! I am very fond of my version of these characters...well, except the rat, whom I just made up for use in this comic. (He's basically just your average generic cartoon rat, anyways.)
