Aka, -get a real argument, plz- by Colliequest Aka, -get a real argument, plz- by Colliequest
People will be people, but it just gets on my nerves when I'm clicking through my deviations inbox and I come across a stamp that says something like "if you don't agree with me, you're a jerk".
(To think they were stupid enough to actually disagree with you! My! Because people shouldn't think for themselves. They just need to listen to you as you think for yourself--amirite?)

First of all, I find this very rude and inconsiderate.

Second of all, this is a logical fallacy called "ad hominem". In other words, attacking the person instead of the argument. It does nothing to support your case, and makes you look just jerk-ish as the people you're dissing.

Third, even if actual, even sound, arguments are provided in the description, people are MUCH more likely to consider your view when you're not being super rude about it. If your goal is for them to come to agree with you, why not do it in a pleasant, or at least halfway pleasant, manner?

This is deliciously ironic.

I like how this is generally worded, because the line of thinking really can apply to any topic of discussion where there's a difference of opinion, particularly on polarizing topics.  My perspective is that people will always have differences of opinion.  You can present your case to others, but that's all you should do, and let others reach their own conclusions.

I've never seen anyone actually say that but I have seen thing that imply that sort of thing

Nowadays, people will still bitch at you for expressing your side of the argument politely.

Ergo why at least some thought should be put into how said arguments are worded. It's never a good idea to wantonly raeg unless you want to attract trolls and drive away the people you are trying to reach. (Also a compelling argument for getting some sleep first before putting your fingers to the keyboard. :iconderpplz:)

I find those type people conceited and very much assholes. I ran into a DeviantArt user and I said something that she didn't like and she called me a moron for being wrong because whatever she says is always right. It was really uncalled for and I got in a heated fight with her, seriously, no one has to agree with one opinion everyone has different views of things. When I see people act like that it makes me sick and I get disgusted by that attitude.
